Communications Coordinator
Full Time: Tuesdays – Saturdays (will occasionally require evenings and Sundays)

Summary: The Utica Zoo is seeking a highly qualified, team oriented, dynamic Communications Coordinator. This position is responsible for all zoo communication both on and off site. The Communications Coordinator will work with all departments to identify and foster key news stories, develop press releases and other copy for collateral; update website content; and coordinate social media communication. The Communication Coordinator is responsible for the design of all print material distributed by the Zoo. This position is also responsible for tracking and ensuring donors receive their deliverables. Must be well versed in all Microsoft Office applications, and proficient in InDesign.  Interview will include review of portfolio.

Duties and Responsibilities:
Manage information on the Zoo website and social media pages.
Maintenance of email and website correspondence
Schedule and coordinate zoo media presence
Write and distribute press releases, PSA and other media contact
Develop advertising plan as budget allows
Maintain all databases pertaining to donor management
Graphic design for signage on grounds, maps, brochures, event posters, newsletter, advertising, and program books, ads for web and print and other promotional materials
Produce and collect photography and necessary releases for use in zoo materials

Minimum Job Requirements:
Bachelor’s degree in a related field or 2-5 years of experience preferred
Detail-oriented and the ability to meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment
Ability to communicate clearly verbally and in writing, and edit work for spelling and grammar.
Highly skilled with Microsoft Office and graphic design software
Knowledge of social media and web design
Ability to accomplish goals with energy and drive.
Positive attitude and strong work ethic with the desire to work as a team member.
