Australia Day at the Utica Zoo

January 24, 2020

As we all know, Australia has suffered horrific bushfires that have destroyed millions of acres of land, impacted thousands of people, and killed an unfathomable number of wild animals.

On Sunday, January 26th, we will be focusing on our Australian animals for Australia Day. Our Keepers will be doing a Keeper Talk and enrichment activities with our Bennett’s Wallabys at 11am and a Keeper Talk with our Emus at 2pm.

As a conservation-minded animal care facility, the Utica Zoo, along with many other Zoos and Aquariums, work in conjunction to support the animals impacted in the wild. Part of our effort locally is to help educate the public about the importance of caring for our Ambassadors to the Wild and providing a safe refuge for the animals in our care.

Additionally, we will also be donating all of our “round-up” donations from our Admissions and Gift Shop for the week to Zoos Victoria to support the vital work their team is doing on the ground.

We also encourage our visitors to support one of the following organizations doing critical work to save animals in Australia:
