Habitats and Homes (K – 3rd)

Wednesday, April 16th  9am – 3pm

Just like us, animals need a place to call home, whether it be a tree, cave, or pond. Together we’ll explore how and why animals live indifferent habitats.

Spring Has Sprung! (2nd – 5th)

Thursday, April 17th  9am – 3pm

As the snow begins to melt and the temperatures rise, animals get ready for Spring!  Join us as we learn all about how animals make way for the spring season!

$30.00 per child members / $35.00 per child non-members

Spring Zoo Tales

Friday, April 18th 10:30am – 11:30am

Does your toddler love the zoo? Bring your young zoologist to the zoo and enjoy a special spring story, narrated with the help of some of our    animal friends! The program also includes a snack, activity, and admission to the zoo for the rest of the day!

$5.00 per child for members / $10.00 per child for non-members.

The Utica Zoo’s education department has Zoo Camps for kids of all ages. The Zoo environment and animal themed fun make these camps popular and a great addition to any child’s day. Please pre-register for camps by calling the Zoo at 315-738-0472 ext. 36 or e-mail birthdayparties@uticazoo.org or Mary.hall@uticazoo.org. The ages are determined by what grade children will be attending in school this fall. Summer camps include:

 

Feathers, Scales, and Furry Tails

Pre-Kindergarten

Some animals are sticky, others are fuzzy, but every animal has a special covering!  Learn all about the different coverings animals have and why they feel the way they do!

Session 1: July 21st – July 25th      9:00am-12:00pm HALF DAY

Session 2: August 4th – August 8th    9:00am-12:00pm HALF DAY

 

Slither, Strut, Soar!

Pre-Kindergarten

Climbing, walking, flying, swimming; All animals need to get around somehow!  Learn all about the ways animals move and where they’re going in this half week session!

June 30th – July 2nd 9:00am – 12:00pm HALF DAY / HALF WEEK

 

Barnyard Bash

Kindergarten & 1st Grade

Down on the farm, there’s lots of animals to meet; some you might not even expect!  Discover how animals, plants, and people all connect together on the farm!

Session 1: July 7th – July 11th     9:00am – 12:00pm HALF DAY

Session 2: July 21st – July 25th     1:00pm – 4:00pm HALF DAY

 

Conservation Club

2nd & 3rd Grade

Taking care of the Earth is an important job that is shared by people all around the world!  Learn how even the  smallest of steps can make a big difference!

Session 1: July 14th – July 18th     9:00am – 3:00pm FULL DAY

Session 2: August 11th – August 15th 9:00am – 3:00pm FULL DAY

 

Animal Myths and Legends

3rd, 4th, & 5th Grade

Cultures all around the world have passed down stories for generations about animals.  Explore the different myths and legends behind the animals here at the Zoo!

Session 1: July 28th – August 1s 9:00am – 3:00pm              FULL DAY

Session 2: August 18th – August 22nd  9:00am – 3:00pm FULL DAY

 

Zoo Camp Prices:

Half Week Sessions: $60.00 per Child for Members;  $75.00 per Child for Non-Members

Half Day Sessions: $100 per Child for Members;  $125 per Child for Non-Members

Full Day Sessions: $150 per Child for Members;  $175 per Child for Non-Members

Dangerous Defenses-December programs will focus on the different ways animals keep themselves safe. Antlers and Horns and Prickly Thorns! Animals protect themselves in an amazing array of ways.   • Santa takes a photo with a child at the Utica Zoo Holiday Hoot.
    Holiday Hoot 2014

    December 14th, 2014 – The Utica Zoo welcomed Santa Claus and visitors to the annual Holiday Hoot today. Children were able to get their pictures taken with Santa by Whitesboro Fun Pix, and also let Santa know what they wanted for Christmas. Chuck E. Cheese stopped by to give tokens to kids, and take photos as well. Docents and educational staff brought out animals that the whole family could interact with. The mild temperatures made it a perfect day to walk around the Utica Zoo and see all the animals on exhibit. Children participated in arts and crafts in the Auditorium. Visitors enjoyed hot chocolate and coffee, along with free cookies and candy. People brought gifts for our animals from Read More
