Utica Zoo Classes & Programs

Looking for something new to do with your kids?  Try out one of the education programs at the Utica Zoo!  We offer opportunities for all ages to experience the zoo in a new way. 

Pre-registration is required for all programs!

 

Night Prowls

All Ages Welcome!

Bring the family and join us for fun after hours activities!  During each night prowl, a new topic will be explored through animal interactions, zoo tours, crafts, and games.

Class Time: 6:00pm – 7:30pm

Cost: $5.00 per person for members and $10.00 per person for nonmembers. 1 adult free per family.

Stroller Safari

Age 6 to 18 Months

Load up your stroller and join the newest zoo adventure for your toddler or infant!  We will encounter many different types of animals and learn about them as we go.  Each safari includes an interactive stroller tour, an up close animal encounter, and admission to the zoo for the rest of the day!

Class Time: 10:30 am – 11:30am

Cost: $5.00 per child for members and $10.00 per child for nonmembers. Accompanying adults are free.

Hatchlings

Age 18 Months to 3 Years

Join us as we transform our classroom into a exploration center just for your toddler.  Each session will have themed activities, discovery stations, and new animals to meet!

Class Time: Walk-ins welcome from 10:30 am – 11:30am

Cost: $5.00 per child for members and $10.00 per child for nonmembers. Accompanying adults are free.

Zoo Adventures

Age 3 to 5 Years

Join our monthly preschool program as we explore the world of animals through story books!  Each session includes a story, animal meet and greet, and activity.

Class Time: 10:30 am – 11:30am

Cost: $5.00 per child for members and $10.00 per child for nonmembers. Accompanying adults are free.

*New Program!*: The Utica Library presents Wild Stories!

Age 6 Months to 6 Years

Looking for something new to do with your little ones? Every month this fall, the Utica Zoo will be partnering with the Utica Public Library for special, interactive story time programs! There will be fun stories, games, songs, and of course, animals!

Class Time: 2:00pm – 2:45pm

Cost: $5.00 per child for members and nonmembers. Accompanying adults are free.

Home School Classes

Age 6 years & Up

Home school classes take place once a month and are suited so that children of all ages will be able to participate and gain from this experience. The classes include a variety of activities, crafts, games, animal enrichment, and of course, up close and personal learning experiences with live animals. This class is geared toward children ages 6 to 14.

Class Time: 10:30am – 11:30am

Cost:  $5.00 per child for members and $10.00 per child for nonmembers.  Accompanying adults are free.

Come Early for a Play Date!

Families are welcome to arrive at 10:00am before each class begins to enjoy coffee while your kids play!  There will be activities and games provided before the class begins at no additional cost.

FrogWatch

Interested in conservation? Looking for a fun way to make a difference? Join FrogWatch USA and become a part of one of the largest citizen science programs in the nation! Learn about the wetland ecosystems in your community and how to help conserve amphibians by identifying and reporting the calls of local frogs and toads. Once you are certified as a trained volunteer, the data you collect will be used by scientists and biologists around the country to develop strategies for the preservation of these important species. So hop on over to The Utica Zoo and learn all about the frogs in your own backyard! Due to the scientific nature of the material covered, this class is for adults and interested older children only.
