Mother’s Day

Mother’s Day weekend at the Utica Zoo!

The Utica Zoo is home to many mothers from the Nigerian Dwarf Goats (due in midsummer) to California Sea Lion Munchkin, who spends her days with her daughter Zoey splashing in the pool. Mother’s play an important role not only in humans’ lives, but in animals as well and for this the Utica Zoo welcomes all mothers to enjoy the special day at a special place. On Sunday, May 12th, the Utica Zoo celebrates Mother’s Day with FREE admission for mothers courtesy of Gates-Cole Insurance.

Earth Day

Sunday, April 21 from 11am-3pm

Earth Day at the Utica Zoo is the place to be for family fun and great food too!

On Sunday, April 21 from 11am-3 pm, the Utica Zoo will celebrate Earth Day by providing the community a place to learn and participate in Earth friendly conservation efforts. The mission of The Utica Zoo is to foster public understanding and appreciation of wildlife species and their ecosystems through education, conservation and recreation. To reinforce this mission, there will be crafts, chance animal encounters, activities and educational materials on how to take care of our planet.

In addition, volunteers will be helping make the Zoo look beautiful for Spring! There will also be giveaways and activities for kids on conservation/recycling provided by the Herkimer Oneida Solid Waste Authority. Computer Connection of CNY will be offering free electronics recycling on site with data deconstruction also available ($4 charge) again this year. Bring in an electronic item to be recycled through Computer Connection of CNY and receive $1 off admission per family!

In addition to all the Earth Day festivities, the Utica Zoo also welcomes back Voss’ for the Summer season!

Event festivities are rain or shine and included with regular zoo admission. The Zoo is open from

10am-4:45pm with festivities from 11am-3pm.

*One $1 off  admission recycling discount per family.

25th Annual Spooktacular

Join us as the Utica Zoo hosts it’s 25th annual Spooktacular event from Friday, October 26th through Sunday the 28th. The event takes place at the Utica Zoo from 6 to 9PM on Friday & Saturday with a less scary day on Sunday from 12-4PM. The zoo will open at noon instead of 10am on Sunday the 28th to set up for the event.

This year we welcome back the famous Haunted Hall, Forest of Fear Hayride & Candy Corn Maze. Throughout the weekend, thirteen Trick-o-Treat stations sponsored by community businesses will entice the bravest of visitors through the zoo.  Voss’  will be serving up an array of tasty goodies to keep visitors warm and full.  On Sunday the 28th we celebrate all the Fall season has to offer with continued Trick-o-Treat stations as well as games and other entertainment for our littlest ghouls and goblins. We will also be featuring our  Autumn Avenue which features arts, crafts, and baked goods from across the state.

Zoo admission for the event is $3.00 (sorry, no membership discounts for this event.) with additional fees for certain attractions.  FREE parking will be at the Zoo all three days with additional parking available at rec center parking lot with shuttles to event.  Don’t miss this event of the season!
