GivingZooWeek is the Utica Zoo’s adaptation of #GivingZOOday, a day to highlight the impact zoos and aquariums have on their communities by engaging visitors to be stewards of the environment and save species from extinction.
Every year, the Utica Zoo welcomes more than 100,000 visitors through our gates. However, a vast majority of those visitors come between April and October, leaving the Utica Zoo with far more expenses during the winter months than revenue. Did you know it costs the Utica Zoo $4,000 per day, every day of the year, to operate? And that we spend more than $68,000 in just food and nutritional supplements for our animals during the winter months? Your meaningful support can have a huge impact on these expenses and help us continue to provide the highest quality animal care possible.
Be sure to join us December 2-6 to take a behind the scenes look at the inner workings of the Utica Zoo, learn more about the challenges we face every winter, and how you can support our team during this critical time. Hear from our animal care and education staff on a variety of ways your support can have a meaningful impact on our expenses. You can be part of our mission to provide our animals with top-level care and promote public appreciation of wildlife through education, conservation, and recreation.
-Share our GivingZooWeek content to your friends and family to get them involved also.
-Join us at Holland Farms Bakery and Deli in Yorkville, NY on Friday, December 6th starting at 6:30 am for a special fund drive.
