Earth Week – April 21st to April 28th

Join us at the zoo and celebrate our Mother Earth! We will be celebrating Earth Day, Arbor Day and Environmental Education week with a variety of camps, classes and events. Visit the website for a full listing of programs.

 Learn more. Do more. Share more. Celebrate #EEWeek2018 with @National Environmental Education Foundation April 23-29. Learn how small actions add up to make a difference and impact our health and our planet and share your EE story with others. #EEinAction.

The Earth Week programs listed below are free with admission! Just walk in during the designated times each day to participate!

April 21st – 10:30 to 12:30 – Snakes Alive!

Join Zoo educators in the Wildlife Hall to learn all about these very important members of the reptile family. You will meet snakes from our education department, watch snake enrichment and make a snake to take home. It is sure to be a slithering good time!

April 22nd – 1:00 to 3:00 PM – Earth Day!

Celebrate the Earth’s amazing diversity of Animal Species.  Pick up a fun zoo scavenger hunt at the gate when entering the zoo. Turn in your completed sheet to docents in the discovery cottage, collect your prize, and meet some of our education animals face to face.

April 23rd – 10:30 to 12:30 – Bug Out!

Invertebrates make up 97% of all the animal species on earth! Stop in the Zoo’s auditorium to meet a small selection of these amazing animals! Make a bug of your very own to take home.

April 24th – 1:00 to 3:00 PM – Rainforests

Rainforests cover less than 2 percent of the Earth’s total surface area, and are home to 50 percent of the Earth’s plants and animals. Join us in the Zoo’s auditorium, meet some rainforests animals and learn what you can do to help these endangered habitats.

April 25th – 1:00 to 3:00 PM – Endangered and Invasive

Join zoo educators in the discovery cottage to learn about invasive species and how they are changing the face of the northern forest. Meet a few of our invasive friends, try your hand at Invasive Species Jenga and make a “cootie” catcher.

April 26th – 10:30 to 12:30 – Trees are Terrific!

Stop on into the Discovery Cottage to learn all about trees and the animals that depend on them for survival. Make a tree identification guide to take home.

April 27th – 2:00 -4:00 – Oceans!

Join Zoo educators in the Discovery Cottage and learn all about the amazing life in the Ocean. Make a sea creature of your own to take home.

April 28th – 11:00am -3:00pm – Utica Zoo’s Earth Day Event!

Join us for our annual Earth Day event as we celebrate all of our animals here at the zoo! Meet Smokey Bear, visit our Earth friendly vendors, participate in our Recycled Art Contest, and much more!

Spring Break Programs

Looking for something new to do with your kids during school break? Join us for one of our zoo-rific education programs! There’s something for kids of all ages at the Utica Zoo!

Join us as we welcome Spring here at the zoo! This class includes an interactive animal presentation, craft, and activity.

Conservation Kids

2nd Grade to 5th Grade

From Earth Day to Arbor Day, April is all about conservation! Join us as we learn about the challenges animals face in the wild and what we can do to help!
