The Utica Zoo welcomes the newest addition to its animal collection, the Canada Lynx. The new Lynx will be on exhibit on Sunday, December 15th in conjunction with Holiday Hoot at the Zoo which is the Zoo’s annual holiday celebration. The pair of Lynx were recently acquired from a facility in Watertown NY and will now have a home on the Utica Zoo’s North Trek. In addition to the new Lynx, Snowy Owls, Mexican Wolves, and Red Fox can also be found on the Trek.
The Utica Zoo is open year round ( closed Thanksgiving and Christmas) and many of the animals can be seen out in the snow. During the winter months, the Zoo offers snow shoe rentals and trails on the North Trek for those looking to see animals in a new way. Visitors are encouraged to bring their own equipment as well and join the many that have taken advantage of the season’s beautiful landscapes.
