February 11, 2020

The season of Love is approaching and we think our animals deserve to receive some Valentines too! This year, we have put together a fun way to give our animals a treat and that special someone a gift from the heart at the same time.

-Choose an enrichment gift from the form below and give your special someone the satisfaction of knowing one of our Utica Zoo animals will receive a special enrichment Valentine in their honor.
-Choose a Valentines’ Card for a $10 donation, Rose/flower for a $25 donation, or a Frozen enrichment heart for a $50 donation for one of our Valentine’s animals.
-Not only will your animal of choice receive their enrichment, but we will also let your special someone know you supported one of our animals in their honor and will receive a valentine heart at the animal’s exhibit.

What is enrichment?
Enrichment is a huge part of how we care for our animals. Enrichment helps our animals keep their minds and bodies sharp by utilizing methods that reinforce the animal’s natural instincts. Enrichment can be anything that encourages the animal to play or to use their natural instincts to manipulate. This could be anything from a paper bag full of treats to a suspended ball to a complicated system of ropes meant to replicate vines in a forest. Enrichment is an important part of our animal’s psychological and physiological health.

Our animals will receive their enrichment items on February 14th, so make sure you come for a visit with your special someone! After all the Utica Zoo is a great place for a date! *Purchases must be made by February 12, 2020*

Thank you for supporting the animals of the Utica Zoo!
