Join Beaversprite Fridays at 11 am for naturalist led exploration of the nature center. In September interesting animal adaptations will be in the spotlight. From teeth to tails, the adventure begins with a book or instruction and a craft, then it’s out into the fields and forest to explore. The fee is $5/child. Saturday, September 25, 2 pm Falcon Heart Rescue
Join Deb Saltis, a local wildlife rehabilitator as she explains how she became a wildlife rehabber and some of the challenges she has faced and will be presenting a few of her Birds-of-Prey. Join us for a night time guided hike through the woods of Beaversprite. Night Prowl is a great way to enjoy an evening at the Utica Zoo and Beaversprite; fun for the whole family! Small groups will be lead on an excursion, experiencing fun activities to learn more about nocturnal animals and their adaptations! And you will have the chance to meet some nocturnal animals! The tour will be lead around one of the trails (a 60 minute trek)! Please note, the trails are not stroller accessible so we highly encourage a back pack carrier for any little ones! Night Prowl activities include marshmallows over the fire, hot cocoa, and fun activities. Grab the family to enjoy a wonderful evening together with all of us here.

The Beaversprite Home School Program is a STEM-based program that utilizes age-appropriate activities, crafts, activities, as well as live animals to teach attending children about a range of animal-related topics. Our home school class may be used to fulfill a science credit, depending on specific grade level or requirements. Home school is open to all students (K – 12th grade).
The Utica Zoo/Beaversprite is fully chartered as an education facility by NYSED and all lessons and activities will adhere to Next Generation Science Standards (NGSS) and include take home worksheets as well as a list of resources for further learning. The lessons will be geared towards students in 2nd to 6th grades but all ages can participate.

Sunday, September 26, 1 -4 Just One Drop
Join us for a watery adventure as we follow a drop of water on its trip to the sea. We will learn all about the water cycle and explore the ponds and streams of Beaversprite and learn all about the Mohawk River watershed that we call home. Rubber boots or water shoes are recommended.
Families of all ages are welcome to take part in these programs but be aware that they are not stroller friendly. Kids ages 5 and under must be accompanied by an adult, ages 6 and over may be dropped off. $20/child.
