Mid-Winter School Break has arrived again and the Utica Zoo has in-person and virtual options to keep your kids active and learning! Check out our Guided Expeditions and Virtual ZooMobiles!

In-Person Guided Expeditions

The Utica Zoo wants to keep you active! From Monday, February 15-Friday, February 19, we will be offering guided zoo expeditions to keep learning minds and growing bodies active.  Guided tours will visit different areas of the Zoo each day and are a wonderful way to learn more about our animals and hear interesting stories and facts along the way. Zoo Expeditions will last approximately 30-60 minutes and are subject to change. Each expedition is open to 15 participants each.

Monday, February 15th @ 11:30am – Guided Expedition of the Children’s Zoo

Tuesday, February 16th @ 11:30am – Guided Expedition of the African Ridge and North Trek

Wednesday, February 17th @ 11:30am – Guided Expedition of Asian Realm, Primates & Red Panda

Thursday, February 18th @ 11:30am – Guided Expedition of Children’s Zoo

Friday, February 19th @ 11:30am – Guided Expedition of African Ridge & North Trek

Pre-purchase of tickets is required. Visitors will not be permitted to join the guided tour without a pre-purchased ticket. Tickets will be closed for booking at 9 am on the day of the tour. TOURS TAKE PLACE AT THE ZOO IN-PERSON. MASKS ARE REQUIRED AT ALL TIMES.

COVID-19 UPDATE

Please note that due to COVID-19, we have had to implement more rigorous safety protocols, for the safety of our animals, staff, and the rest of our visitors.
This can include but is not limited to: social distancing with staff, masks required at all times while at the zoo, and no touching of the animals.

If you are traveling from out of state, please visit https://coronavirus.health.ny.gov/covid-19-travel-advisory to confirm that you do not require a 2-week quarantine prior to visiting the zoo.

Virtual ZooMobiles

Experience the zoo from the comfort of your own home! Each virtual zoomobile includes a live, interactive presentation of three ambassador animals. A zoo educator will present each animal and answer questions from the group. This program is open to the public and is a great experience for all ages.

Monday, February 15th @ 10:00am – Virtual Zoomobile (Open to all ages) – Wild Winter Adaptations! – Have you ever wondered how animals survive our cold and snowy upstate New York winters? From migration to hibernation, join us as we explore the different ways that animals adapt to survive during colder seasons! Book Online Now!

Tuesday, February 16th @ 10:00am – Virtual Zoomobile (Open to all ages) – Tropical Escape! – Take a break from the cold and meet some critters who call the desert and rainforest home! Discover the different ways that animals survive in warmer climates and habitats where it can be tough to find food and water! Book Online Now!

Thursday, February 18th @ 10:00am – Virtual Hatchlings (Open to learners 2-5 years)– Awesome Opossums! – Jump up on your feet and get ready to learn all about opossums! This interactive class keeps toddlers and preschoolers engaged through songs, movement activities, animal meet and greets, and more! You can also add to the lesson by purchasing a digital or mailed packet of additional lesson materials, crafts, and activities. Book Online Now!
